How to care for your New Lands Knitwear
We encourage our customers to extend the life of their New Lands knits by following the proper care instructions provided. Take the time to carefully wash and care for your knits and they will love you for it season after season.
Refrain from over-washing your knitwear
Do not wash your knitwear after every wear, instead let garments air out naturally. Lay flat in air flowing space out of direct sunlight.
Dry cleaning is preferred as it is gentle on the garments, some waters can be quite harsh and cause shrinkage and deformation.
Hand wash your knitwear
Always hand-wash your knitwear in cold water, with a soft wool detergent. Wool detergent works best for all yarns, wool, cotton, alpaca, mohair, as well as blended yarns
Do not rub the knit together during the wash as this causes the fibres to become loose. Leave the garment to soak for a few minutes, then gently squeeze excess water out.
Roll knit in-between a towel to remove excess moisture, gently reshape and lay flat to dry out of direct sunshine, on top of a drying rack or a dry towel.
How to prevent pilling
Pilling may occur naturally it is caused by the loose fibres rubbing together. and can be removed with a special pilling comb in a downwards motion.
How to store your knitwear
Knitwear is best stored folded and kept out of direct sunlight.
Yarn combinations
Wool, combed cotton, cashmere, alpaca, mohair, repurposed nylon, have all been careful considered with environmental choices and warmth, ease and comfort for our New Lands Community.
